On the Horizon: Elizabeth and James Sunglasses

New York magazine's "The Cut" caught up with Ashley Olsen last week, where she discussed her future plans for the Elizabeth and James line, which includes branching out into sunglasses.

Their contemporary line Elizabeth and James already includes women’s and men’s collections as well as jewelry and shoes. Sunglasses are launching next, and Ashley says bags will follow. “It’s really getting to the point where it’s becoming a lifestyle brand,” she said, adding that they’d love to branch out into home furnishings down the road.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us!

Right Round: Mary-Kate and Ashley

The Olsens, like many of us, spent Christmas Eve last minute shopping. They, however, were also photographed doing so. And I love their variations on the round sunglasses trend.

My best guess is that Ashley is wearing Lanvin Wouter round sunglasses, which I'm pretty infatuated with. For $300, they can be yours from shopbop.com.

Ksubi Book Club: Plagiarism?

Uhhhhh... Ksubi? Your 09/10 eyewear collection may be called "Book Club," but it looks like your Bellatrix sunglasses are straight plagiarized from Chanel 5018s.

That said, the Bellatrix, shown above, will only set you back $289. Good luck finding the real deal 5018s (as seen below on an Olsen) on eBay.

Those really looking for a deal, however, should just go with the $10 version from girlprops.com.

Overexposure: Chanel 5018

These Chanel 5018 sunglasses are out of control, feeding the tabloid fodder and someone ought to send them to rehab! Somehow I doubt that the cover of Star was what Karl intended for these beauties.

DualStar and Uncle Karl

ome sunglasses just won't fade into obscurity. Here at FlashyShades we've been chronicling the ascent of the dual-tone Chanel 5018 sunglasses from their runway debut on Agyness Deyn to their ubiquity on 1st trimester Nicole Richie.

And it seems the Olsens are just as fixated. Ashley brought and wore them for her photo shoot with Marie Claire and now Mary Kate is elbowing in on her sister's sunnies this week in Paris. Do you think they share or they each have their own pair?

Appropriately enough, MK wore them to the Chanel show. Not to be outdone, Ashley wore the Chanel 5117 sunglasses. Check them out at SunglassesItaly.

Ashley Outtakes

h-ha! Just as I suspected. The Chanel 5018 sunglasses worn by Ashley Olsen in Marie Claire are the mogul's own.

The Marie Claire "Behind the Scenes" feature proclaims:
She brought the best accessories -- her own Lee Morris cuff and half-tinted Chanel sunglasses.

Ashley Olsen is Cute.

t seems like Nicole Richie is not the only one to get their hands on Chanel's Spring/Summer 2007 runway sunglasses.

Ashley Olson dons them in her September 2007 profile in Marie Claire.

The Wayfarers Roll On

ayfarers simply cannot be stopped! Ashley Olsen, following in her sister's footsteps, is the latest in the line of hip, hip ladies to don the iconic shape.

Ashley was photographed getting a little wacky on vacation in Mexico earlier in the week. The overall effect is pretty much the best ad campaign American Apparel has never launched.

Like some other celebrities have been known to do, she buys her sunglasses in bulk. [See: Gwen Stefani in Black & White; Paris Redux/Refueling Paris] Ashley is too cool for school!

Ms. Olsen was hardly the only celebrity channeling Risky Business this past week. A traveling-in-comfort Drew Barrymore wore her white wayfarers at the airport, while Brittany Murphy wore her black pair with her time-traveling-to-the-80s outfit.

Jane Says

ecently, I've gotten into the magazine Jane. This month, they pondered the existence of sunglass nerds. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I would qualify as one.

Their February issue heralded the Wayfarer renaissance.

Nice pair
Ray-Ban has relaunched its classic Wayfarer style. Sunglasses nerds (do they exist?) will be stoked that the company reverted to the original lens slant and hinges, which were tweaked in 2000, but what's awesome to us normal people is that the Wayfarer now comes in red and white, as well as the usual tortoiseshell and black. This news almost made our fashion director, Kusum, faint, as she's been wishing for a white pair for years now. And if you can't get the image of Tom Cruise in Risky Business out of your head, just picture stylish girls like Chloƫ Sevigny and Kirsten Dunst sporting them around town. Because they have been, and the look is refreshingly tough compared to all that oversized, bug-eyed business. Get them at Sunglass Hut for $130. --Steph

They speak the truth. See for yourself.

Although some are sick of this look on her already.

Uhhhh....MK?

here's really nothing one can say about Mary-Kate's Parisian face adornment. So I'll leave the photo of these Chanels to speak for itself.

Let us never speak of these again.

Vive Les Olsens

ary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are taking their derelicte schtick on the road. The girls were photographed looking tres flashtastic while shopping in Paris this week.

My favorite part about this is that they are documenting their Euro adventures on their blog.

Here, Mary-Kate sports Chanel 6013B round acetate frames that evoke "spirit of the 1950s," according to Chanel's site.

For M.K.-chic:
Cost: $209
Colors: Burgundy, Black, Silver, Hunter Green, Brown
Retailer: abs-sunglasses.com

P.S. - Katherine Heigl of Grey's Anatomy has them too.
