Haute Flash
had the opportunity to look at the the Giorgio Armani Prive runway photographs this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find Mr. Armani had incorporated sunglasses into his couture show.
Like the sunglasses shown in Balenciaga's Spring/Summer '07 show, the Armani shades are an extension of this season's emphasis on metallics.
[Source: Vogue.co.uk]I'm sure we'll be seeing Katie Holmes looking alien-chic in them any day now.

Posh & Katie Cruise Will Always Have Paris

On Tuesday, Victoria Beckham cruised the Chanel show.

"Aviators will never fail to be a popular design. This oversized style has the dvb logo subtly etched on the lens."Her good pal, Katie Holmes, is also in Paris to see the shows. She was photographed on Wednesday doing some shopping in the City of Light. Judging by her eyewear, Ms. Holmes is staying true to her designer of choice, Giorgio Armani.

Sunglasses were even on the runway! Jean Paul Gautier's show featured this green pair. I wonder what couture shades go for and what sunglasses have to do with religious iconography, but what do I know?

Ho Ho Ho

ike all best friends, Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham share. Here, Katie Holmes was photographed doing some last minute shopping wearing her British BFF's sunglasses line, DVB Style.
[Source: KatieHolmes.com]Check out the six-sided star, Posh's logo. The not-available-in-stores pair she is wearing is the DVB 3:

"Inspired by the grace and femininity of the Dolce Vita era this classic pair can be worn at anytime, anywhere with anything."
Prices and retail locations are not yet listed for Ms. Beckham's sunglasses. You can, however, check out the rest of the line at DVBStyle.com. Don't miss her personal mobile phone photos, she is such a fantastic chav.

Happy Birthday, Katie Holmes
n refreshingly charitable celebrity news, Katie Holmes spent her 28th birthday yesterday donating Christmas gifts to the less fortunate in East Los Angeles.
All Scientology jokes aside, that really is a great example, especially considering most celebrities spend their birthdays throwing themselves four parties in Vegas.
But is it just me, or do those sunglasses look like they're sitting a bit high on the bridge of her nose?

or Tom Cruise and his new bride, Katie Holmes, nothing spells romance like the sidelines of the soccer game.
Yesterday, the newlyweds were photographed at Mr. Cruise's daughter's game keeping the magic alive.

Ms. Jolie was seen wearing these Dolce & Gabbana 6006B's for much of her travels in India back in October. It seems that these Hollywood power couples take cues from each other.
Who do you think wears them best?

In fact, it looks like Mr. Cruise has been taking a page from the Jolie-Pitts as well, as both he and Mr. Pitt are sporting Ray-Bans.

Harper's Bazaar -- November 2006

finally had the opportunity to catch up on my fashion magazines this weekend, specifically Harper's Bazaar.
In their "What's New: Hottest, Newest, Latest" column they detailed a recent development in designer sunglasses.
"The latest trend in eyewear comes from an unlikely source -- buckles. Fendi's B, Roger Vivier's signature Pilgrim, and Gucci's classic closure have appeared as details on glam oversize sunglasses. Who knew looking chic would be such a cinch?"

Fendi's B Fendi Sunglasses:
Cost: $275
Colors: Black, Dark Brown
Retailer: Saks Fifth Ave.
Gucci's 2591Cost: $201-206
Colors: Black, Tortoise, Red, Violet, Green, Blue
Retailer: Otticanet.com
The Roger Vivier sunglasses, far less common than the other two pairs, really caught my eye. Katie Holmes was photographed wearing them last month at David Orgell, a jewelry store on Rodeo Drive.
[Source: GossipRocks]Roger Vivier
Cost: $445
Colors: Red, White, Black, Tortoise (as seen on Ms. Holmes)
Retailer: Saks Fifth Avenue (in stores, not available online)
Additionally, they were recently profiled in Wallpaper:
[Source: Wallpaper]"It's a risk to refer to Diana Vreeland and Nicole Richie in the same sentence, but Roger Vivier's new sunglasses evoke just that type of icon-inspired elegance that we all wish we could exude everyday. The first frames in the collection boldly show off an oversized, Forties silhouette in your choice of red, black, white and tortoise shell, with Vivier's signature gold buckle adorning each temple in quiet homage. Mysterious, forward, effortless and desirable all at once, what more could a girl ask for?"

This Week in DG
hree of Hollywood's hottest took their Dolce and Gabbana eyewear, well, everywhere this week.
Jessica Alba is currently on location in Vancouver, where the sequel to Fantastic Four is filming. This weekend, she was photographed offset with her puppy and her producer boyfriend, Cash Warren.
[Source: Popsugar]
I'm glad she isn't neglecting her eyes, even in what looks like a chilly Canadian afternoon. Here, Ms. Alba is wearing luxurious open-temple Dolce & Gabbana 6007B sunglasses.Cost: $224
Colors: Black, Green, Blue, Red, Brown, Tortoise
Retailer: SunglassesItaly
A hemisphere away, Angelina Jolie also shielded herself from the sun's rays in Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. As reported earlier this week, Ms. Jolie is in India to film A Mighty Heart, which is based on the memoirs of Mariane Pearl, the widow of slain journalist Daniel Pearl.
[Source: AngelinaWeb.org]
Wearing Dolce & Gabbana 6006B's, she is just a model number away from Ms. Alba. Their logo is quite small, but still flashy. The more I see of these shades, the more I like them. Well played, Ms. Jolie, well played.
At right, she was also sporting them alongside her better half, Brad Pitt, on the rooftop of the Taj Lake Palace hotel in Udaipur, India.

Returning stateside, Katie Holmes completes the D&G trifecta. On Saturday, she was photographed shopping at Barney's. I can't wait until I'm famous, so I can cruise department stores in my sunglasses.
[Source: GossipRocks]
In addition to her black nail polish (which I was a bit surprised to see gracing the fingers of the future Mrs. Tom Cruise), Ms. Holmes is wearing the D & G 3003 model. If this look seems familiar, its because she wore it to the Chanel runway show with Victoria Beckham.Cost: $141
Colors: Purple, Beige, Striated Blue, Dark Havana, Black (as seen here)
Retailer: SunglassesItaly
Three is a trend. Dolce and Gabbana's fashionable eyewear is in style in Hollywood and across the globe, it seems.

Faux Pas?
After posting a photograph of their appearance at Friday's Chanel runway show, I continued to surf the world wide web to identify which shades Ms. Holmes wore.
Who knew her sunglassess would be so easily identifiable? My love for the internet grows stronger with each passing day.

In the words of my roommate, "They are so dark and pretty. I sweat them."
Pretty, yes. But D & G? To the Chanel show? What would Karl say?
[Ms. Beckham, a sunglasses lover and designer, is often very difficult to pin down. She often wears shades of her own design -- look for the star logo -- which are not available online and have had only two very limited UK-based offerings. Here, her razor-sharp bob covered any logo or tell-tale markings.]
Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Spring/Summer 2007
But one pair of sunglasses was shown on the runway: curve-armed frames with half-opaque, half-translucent lenses . Questionable as the shades were, they were far superior to the clear plastic platforms Mr. Lagerfeld was trying to sell us.
[Source: Vogue.co.uk]Though these sunglasses may look silly, they (and other moderately-priced accessories) are serious profit heavy-weights for the fashion house. Mr. Lagerfeld advised customers that the shades are available, but to act quickly:
"The models carried the handbags and wore the oversized sunglasses that are all important for profit margins at luxury goods houses.[Source: NYTimes]
'I don't show anything that is not for sale,' said the 68-year-old Lagerfeld.
'Whatever you seen on the Chanel runway you can have it in the show. You have to go early because those things disappear quite quickly and the sales girls have a tendency to hide them for their favorite clients.'"
Oh, yeah, and these two were front and center. Nice shades, ladies. Couldn't swing seats next to Anna Wintour? (Who was present, and yes, also wore sunglasses.)
