Elle is for Lovers

he most fashionable sunglasses -- including the Chanel Couture shades, at right -- for the Fall/Winter season are detailed in a groovy Elle slideshow. Flashy Likey!

Other highlights include the much sought after futuristic Balenciaga shades, the highly publicized Roberto Cavalli Eva model and the soon-to-be-launched Banana Republic line.

Enjoy it, loves. See slideshow here.

PRETTY SHADY
Would Lolita really have conjured up that pint-size seductress image quite as well without her signature heart-shaped frames? Could Nicole Richie and Mary-Kate Olsen have catapulted themselves to tabloid style icon fame without their omnipresent saucer-sized shades? As certain front row types will tell you, the perfect pair of sunglasses serves as part accessory, part armor. This season, a slew of new brands are emerging on the market to bring an ideal air of mystery to the sophisticated woman. Chanel introduces their “haute couture jewelry” collection for fall, adorned with feathers, sequins, and embroideries. At the more affordable end of the spectrum, both Banana Republic and Club Monaco are introducing sunglasses next week, and we hear Club Monaco is already racking up pre-orders. And come spring, Balenciaga and Dries Van Noten will introduce their own brands of shades for the first time—the future is certainly looking bright.

I'm Looking Through You

ow do I love Style.com's LookBooks?

Let me count the ways: one, StylistBlair.

Blair's got some great picks in her Super Star Glasses lookbook. Like good old Agy in Luella.

I dug that Autumn/Winter 2007 show too. [See: UPDATED -- Luella's Catwalk]

Fall Recap: Valentino

ith each of these Fall Recap posts, it becomes more and more apparent to me that summer is winding down and its time to stock up on some chunky knits.

On the Valentino runway, models Natasha Poly and Lily Donaldson prove that bigger is still better.

Fall Recap: ChloƩ

s we find ourselves with September bearing down upon us, I have the urge to recap the Fall/Winter 2007 Ready to Wear shows. ChloƩ's runway show gave us a nice update on the wayfarer trend.

I want...

Bottega Backstage [F/W 2007]

hhhh, to be adorned in $1,500 shades and born in 1989. I'd be looking as smug as Chanel Iman does backstage at the Bottega Veneta Fall/Winter 2007 show.

Dollar Dollar Bills Y'all

imes are tough, y'all. And shades are spendy.

WWD.com also profiled the costly sunglasses trend in "Accessories Now: Turn Up the Price Points".

Call me crazy, but fifteen hundred bucks for sunglasses is just much too much. Chanel Iman looks cute in them, though.

In my opinion, these Bottega Veneta BV55/S sunglasses with antique brass for $350 are plenty nice. Available on bottegaveneta.com.

Indy < $500

ucci has launched its first ever campaign devoted to a single accessory: the Indy Bag. The campaign, featuring model Natasha Poly and GG 2969 sunglasses, debuted in August magazines.

I originally profiled these shades in "Karl Rules." Lately I cannot get enough of Style.com's blog, Style File, where they featured this and other great backstage shots. Those models are so silly!

Karl Rules

sk yourself: Could Karl Lagerfeld be cooler? I submit that he can not! Couture sunglasses: I'm lovin' it.

He outfitted the models in Chanel's Fall Couture 2007 show earlier this week in pretty, pretty shades. Doesn't model Vivian Orth look lovely?
